Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal held one-on-one discussion Tuesday afternoon in their latest bid to ward off the looming political confrontation and smooth out the constitution-drafting and the peace process.

According to PM Nepal’s press advisor Bishnu Rijal, the meeting held at the Constituent Assembly building dwelled on finding early solution to the political impasse. Both the leaders expressed their readiness to avert possible confrontation in the wake of prolonged deadlock, he added.

PM Nepal reminded the Maoist chairman that he was actively involved in the negotiations that led to the peace process and added that he is ready for consensus necessary for writing the new constitution and conclude the peace process, Rijal informed.

“I found both the leaders enthusiastic and satisfied at the end of the discussion,” Rijal said and quoted Maoist chairman Dahal as saying that his party was ready to show flexibility for the sake of peace and new constitution.

The Nepal-Dahal meeting comes a day after the top-level meeting of the main three parties which formed a six-member taskforce to find a common ground to end the deadlock. nepalnews.com
