The Maoist-aligned All Nepal National Independent Students Union- Revolutionary
(ANNISU-R) has called off its indefinite strike in educational institutions across
the country.

The ANNIUS-R made the announcement Sunday evening following a meeting of nine
student organisations that arrived at an understanding to ask the government to
release 54 ANNISU-R activists who were arrested during violent confrontations with
Nepali Congress-affiliated Nepal Students Union (NSU) last week.
